Well I'm sure by now you are all aware that Cindy made her successful solo debut here in the UK. What happened that warm Sunday evening ? First of all Anthony (PA for Driving Wheel) and myself were privileged to get the first glimpses of Ms Cindy, Vera and Serena in costume and accompanied them to the stage. They all looked great. OK, so we don't really need to state that, as all are professional performers. Cindy was relaxed and showed us that beautiful smile often, a really sweet and warm person. Vera as always smiled and kept the chatter going, the atmosphere was really great and I'm sure this helped Serena relax. She was a little nervous having met Cindy and Vera only a short while before the performance. Serena stepped in at the last minute due to the illness of the other background singer. This did cause some hair-raising moments earlier in the afternoon but Dave and his able assistant Anthony soon had everything back under control and Serena not only replaced the missing singer but impressed Cindy too.

The ladies flowed onstage to the opening chords of Remember Me. Vera, Cindy then Serena. Cindy sang out as only she could with this "Driving Wheel" production. Looking around the room, when I could take my eyes from behind the camera and off the stage, I noted the guests at this exclusive function were moving with the beat and watching centre stage. Music changes for Moving On Up and all three ladies looked relaxed, they belonged there and the vocals were brilliant.

Next up we had the Stevie Wonder song, Signed Sealed Delivered, nothing more to say really, Cindy did deliver. Striding right on into Surrender followed by the softer whispy intro to Life, now guys this is one tune that is going to drive you crazy, one of those 'popups' that you find running through your head again and again.... The haunting pleading intro of Is It Possible, Cindy steals into your heart and melts your soul. She then introduced Ms.Vera Carey who blasted us with her version of Heatwave, she stomped herself over that 'Oldie but Goody' (Martha watch out!).

Cindy then came back and Killed Us All Softly with her rendering of Roberta Flacks' classic Killing Me Softly. She carried right on into telling us I've Been Loving You Too Long, all I can say is forever wouldn't be long enough for me. I was a bit shocked to realise that Cindy was on the last number recounting If I Were Your Woman, where did the time go, it was far too soon to be over, as the end came she backed away from the microphone and moved offstage still singing. Well there's always time for one more..so Never Can Say Goodbye starts and out she came, to culminate an exemplory performance. Her UK Solo Debut was an explosion of delight for me. Biased? Perhaps but I'm sure that the folks that later wandered homeward found themselves humming and singing 'a la' Cindy Scott!
